The trackpad on my 5 year old Blackberry 9700 broke. My mom had been using it for the past year and more. We decided to replace it with the cheapest smartphone we could find. I taught her how to use Facebook on the Blackberry so she wanted back her WIFI and Facebook access. We found out that Bmobile had a special on the Blu Neo 4.5. It was now TT$299 prepaid from being more than TT$600. This was perfect.
As a tech blogger I am happy to unbox anything and write about it. You get a charger, screen protector, plastic casing, battery and instruction manual in the box. The phone works with the older and normal sized SIM so we didn’t have to cut the SIM card. I think that the specs are good for the price. 4.5″ IPS display, 1.3 GHz dual core processor and 3.2 MP camera that does 720p at 30 fps video. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The phone was released in May 2014. It’s a budget phone so you get what you pay for. Call quality is normal and UI performance is average.
It comes with a 1 year warranty which is good. If this phone lasts for a year I would be very pleased. Would I buy this phone for myself? If I had a small budget, I would definitely buy this phone for myself. The next step for me is to review day to day performance and durability after extended usage. I am also tasked with teaching my mom how to use the touch screen and Android. High-spec flagships usually get most of the attention but today a budget smartphone is being featured and gets my thumbs up in this unboxing and initial impressions blog post.
I would also like to mention and note the great service we received from the staff at Cell Serve Ltd in Trincity Mall.
