How would you define a techie?

The longest you’ve taken to troubleshoot a problem?

In tech – about a few hours; in life – a few years

You are in the airport and your flight is in 4 hours, what do you do to pass time?

Hour 1 – Clear Email (like I’m doing now)
Hour 2 – Listen to Google Play Music or watch a couple of Big Bang Theory episodes
Hour 3 & 1/2 – Put feet up and try to get some rest
Last 1/2 hour – Get to the Gate!

Describe a social problem that technology can solve?

Technology can’t solve anything on its own. Anyone who tells you or thinks that is severely misguided. It is an enabler, a facilitator, even a catalyst, for/in a more comprehensive solution. Having said that, those seeking to solve social problems should certainly examine the potential role of technology in developing a comprehensive solution.

Tell us anything strange about yourself.

I broke my left hand during childbirth, and now I can’t eat with a knife and fork the “proper” way or turn my left hand palm upwards

Name a role model and why?

My Mom. She taught me to never give up, no matter how bad a situation gets.

Ok, Google.

Best movie you’ve seen and why?

Hard to say. It’s between maybe ET, The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I’d probably give the edge to Shawshank, because … well it’s $&#!@ Shawshank!

Advice you would give to other techies?

You become more valuable to both yourself and others if you mix your technical knowledge with any of the social sciences. Engage in some postgraduate learning in the areas of Economics, Business, Sociology and Psychology, for example.

How long until we are able to travel via teleportation?

How much dirt is there in a hole that is 3 ft deep, and 6 inches
in diameter?

None. The dirt is outside the hole.

List five characteristics of a good website

I only use one – can I find the information I’m looking for, on any device, within a few seconds?

Define innovation

This is possibly the world’s most overused, abused and least properly used term. It has lost its meaning and therefore it’s original purpose becoming a catch-all for solving any business or economic problem that we don’t appear to want to take the time to thoroughly understand. I won’t even bother to try to define it again. I’ll leave that to the so-called “experts”.
